Scientific competencies:Physicochemical analysis techniques, electrochemical techniques and in polymer & composite materials processing
Hicham Ben youcef, is an Associate Professor in High Throughput Multidisciplinary Research Laboratory (HTMR) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University since September 2017. He obtained his MASTER Degree in 2004 from the University of Paris XII, France, followed by a Ph.D (materials science) in 2009 from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ), Switzerland. Thereafter and as a Postdoctoral researcher at Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI), Switzerland, he participated in “S-chain project” and “Green Power project”, joint venture between Belenos Clean Power (Swatch® Group), EPFL and PSI for the development of zero-emission car concept based on low temperature Fuel Cells. From 2011 till 2014 and between 2016 and 2017 he joined Chemspeed Technologies AG as an automation and R&D automation chemist. Swiss company specialized in automation and high-throughput solutions and workflows design for chemical-biochemical process industry and applied research. In between these positions, he was a scientific researcher at CICenergigune in Spain, working on the development of cathode materials for Lithium-Sulfur batteries and organic electrodes and polymer electrolyte materials for All-Solid-State Lithium/Sodium batteries.
Mr. Ben youcef developed a wide expertise on physicochemical analysis techniques as well as electrochemical techniques and in polymer & composite materials processing. His current research focuses on the development of new and smart materials for different applications, such as membrane technology, sensors, coatings, electrochemical energy storage and conversion (Fuel cells, Batteries) towards competitive targets (performance, durability and cost). His next target is the setup of a fully automated interdisciplinary research & development platform at UM6P. Prof. Ben youcef has authored/co-authored over 40 articles, proceedings, scientific reports and 2 international patent applications (H-index: 14).
