Biography

Dr. Ahmed Laamrani received a PhD degree in Environmental Sciences (2014) from the Universities of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM) and Abitibi-Témiscamingue (UQAT), Canada. Ahmed joined the CRSA/UM6P in 2019 as Professor specialized in soil Remote Sensing (RS) and applied Geographic Information Systems (GIS).                       Prior to joining the UM6P, Dr. Laamrani held researcher position in RS and GIS (2014-2017) with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and the University of Guelph (2017-2019) in Canada, on agricultural soil RS and GIS projects.             Dr. Laamrani’s research interests during the last five years sit at a crossroads between RS, GIS, drones and agricultural soil cover with a focus on developing solutions for agricultural best management practices. He has a solid foundation in the uses of RS and GIS for natural resources management which includes advanced academic and research training. He has published several papers in refereed journals and attended/participated many international conferences. Dr. Laamrani has supervised and/or co-supervised many undergraduate and graduate students and trained several technicians. Currently, he also has an Adjunct Professor status in forest soil RS and GIS at the UQAT.
